From September 2021 to September 2022, we collected photographic and audio material from former and current Montenegrin students who have lived or are living in the Student Dormitory in Podgorica. With over one hundred photographs and ten interviews, the first archive of student life in Montenegro was formed.
The collected material covers the period from the establishment of the University of Montenegro in 1974 to 2021, focusing on the everyday life of students in the Dormitory, their cultural habits and leisure time, interpersonal and gender relationships, as well as the social and political engagement of students.
The photographic material provides an insight into what socializing situations, student rooms, corridors, terraces, and the cafeteria looked like, while personal stories that have covered almost every generation since the establishment of the University are told through audio format.

The project of creating an archive of student life was created as part of the project “They Live – Student Lives Revealed Through Contextual Art Practices”, an international project funded under the Creative Europe program.
